socology analysis emako blue

Emako blue was a powerful book about the differences norms and that your environment really does shape who you are. There is two main characters in the book and they come from two very different environments. emako grew up in south central L.A. and had her whole life ahead of her.Emako's family was a little messed up, her brother was an O.G but he was locked up at the time for some felonies, she had a little sister that was annoying and turning into something that was not good.her environment had sucked her in and shaped her into something that her family didn't want, her mother was an only parent that liked to sit on the couch and yell, she didn't do much so she wasn't any help. Emako always had to baby sit after she got home from school because her mom worked the night shift so there wouldn't be anybody there to watch her. on top of all that drama Emako still came out on top of everything that she did. she refused to to have the social norms affect her future. She was the best singer in her school, she had good grades never let a man get in front of her education, and to top it off she was gorgeous.
Monterey was a transfer from a prep school and she had a very good life. Her parents were still together and in America today that is very impressive because the divorce rate has increased rapidly over the course of 20 years. her family is financially stable, there is not serious drama in her life like Emako. Her parents try and shelter her a little too much and always tells them she not a little girl but her parents say back she there little girl. In society if you move out of one environment that you have got use to and lived in all your life, then you move into another environment that has different norms, you try and hold on to your close ones more because you do not fit in to the new environment that you are all that great. Monterey lives in a good neighborhood doesn't have to worry about shooting, drivebys and all that other good stuff that south Central L.A. has. Monterey is a nice girl a little down on her self-esteem because not a lot of people notice her in the hallways.
Monterey and Emako met in choir tryouts. They clicked pretty fast even though they come from two different worlds and they have very different personality's. I guess you can say that opposites do attract.
